Property Tax

The people and elected officials of Coopertown understand the value of planned growth and the need for proper zoning to maintain its beautiful country charm. Government services, such as police protection, court services, building and codes enforcement, etc. are provided by funds raised from local and state sales tax.

In 2018, Coopertown implemented a property tax that is dedicated for road maintenance and improvement as well as fire protection services. In addition to the property tax, gas tax funds go directly into our State Street Aid Fund to help cover the cost of maintaining our roads.

For Fire Protection, the Town is contracted with the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department. Station 5, located on Old Coopertown Road in Coopertown and Station 1 in Pleasant View, provide the primary fire protection services to our town.

One of the easiest ways to get help is by dialing 211, Tennessee’s community services help line. When you call, you’ll get a real person, one who is trained to help you sort out your needs, and then give you phone numbers and addresses of the closest places where you can get help. 211 has a database of more than 10,000 health and human services programs, cross-referenced for all sorts of keywords. So don’t worry if you don’t know what type of service you need or the name of an agency — just talk with the specialist at the other end of the line and she or he can help you find what you need. All calls are free and completely confidential. Hours vary by location.
